You can help in this effort by contacting the governor, your legislators and by talking with everyone you know and associate with to ask them to do the same.
Telephone messages and emails to the governor and legislators are the most effective way to tell them you want them to support legislation that will eliminate the criminal statutes of limitations for crimes committed against children under 18.
To contact the governor call (360)902-4111 or email Ellen.Landino@GOV.WA.GOV.
To contact legislators, find out the legislative district you live in, who the senator and the two representatives are in your district, and contact them. Tell them that if they want your vote at the next election they need to vote for the legislation you are supporting.
The state of Washington is divided into 46 legislative districts. There is one senator and two representatives elected in each district. Click on http://apps.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/Default.aspx and enter your address which will then identify the district you are in and the names of the senator and representatives elected in your district.
To find information about all the senators and representatives in the state, click on http://www.leg.wa.gov/legislature then click on "Legislator E-Mail Services for email address or "Rosters" to find phone numbers.
Another effective way you can help is by writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to inform people of the effort and ask them to get involved.
To spread the word and get others involved you can print flyers to post on bulletin boards and distribute them telling people of the problem and asking them to help.
