Help the children. Not the molesters!

Latest Information

The child molesters have once again won the battle for the safety of the children in our state!

DID YOU KNOW?

* Child Rapists and Molesters are still escaping prison sentences because legislators and the governor will NOT end the community-based treatment alternative program (SSOSA). Many of the 20,000 sex offenders in our state never served a day in prison for raping and molesting Washington children.

* Washington is one of only a few states that still clings to statutes of limitations when it comes to child rape and molestation charges. The message from Olympia seems to encourage child molesters to simply "wait it out".

* Of the 1,500 Level 3 sex offenders (most likely to re-offend) in Washington, only a couple of dozen are currently being monitored via GPS technology. The governor and the legislature passed a bill to add another 50 offenders to GPS sometime in 2009. Are you feeling safer? Appropriate legislation would mandate that ALL level 3 offenders and those who are convicted of failure to register be monitored via live (real-time) GPS tracking devices.

* Washington still allows convicted sex offenders to register as homeless and/or transient. Doesn't it make sense to mandate that these dangerous molesters also be monitored via GPS technology?

Your legislators and the governor had another chance to correct this but they did not! While your representatives and the governor brag about "tough sex offender laws", Washington, sadly, continues to be a great place for sex offenders!

If you do not agree with this situation, please immediately contact the governor and your senators and representatives and let them know this is unacceptable to you. If they have any concern for the safety and protection of the children of our state, they will move swiftly to pass legislation in the 2009 session to protect children and pass it immediately.

To find out how to contact the governor and your senator and representatives go to the "How You Can Help" page and enter your address. You will also find a website link there for other members of the legislature.
